Gender Sensitization Cell

GRD College of Pharmacy, Thiruvallur, has constituted a Gender Sensitization Cell to create a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for women students, women staff, and all members of the institution.

The Gender Sensitization Cell has been formed under the policy for the prevention, prohibition, and punishment of sexual harassment of women. The cell ensures that men and women can study, work, and interact within the campus with a sense of personal security, equality, dignity, and mutual respect.

Purpose of the Gender Sensitization Cell

The main purpose of the Gender Sensitization Cell is to prevent sexual harassment, promote gender equality, protect the dignity of women, and support a respectful academic atmosphere.

The cell provides a platform for women students and staff to raise grievances related to sexual harassment, safety, dignity, or gender-based concerns within the college campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Gender Sensitization Cell is responsible for examining, investigating, recording, and resolving grievances received from women staff and women students regarding sexual harassment.

Examine all grievance letters received from women staff and women students regarding sexual harassment
Investigate each complaint carefully by collecting required information and data from connected persons
Provide feedback to the concerned women staff or students regarding their grievances
Find suitable solutions for grievances related to sexual harassment and gender-based concerns
Maintain a separate register exclusively for recording grievances received from women staff and students
Record the reply and action taken by the committee in the grievance register
Settle problems faced by women staff and students regarding sexual harassment within 10 days after proper investigation
Create awareness about gender equality, dignity, safety, and respectful campus behaviour
Promote a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and staff
Follow university rules and institutional guidelines for committee meetings and actions

Grievance Redressal Process

Grievance letter is received from the concerned woman student or staff member
The committee records the grievance in a separate register
Required information and data are collected from connected persons
The complaint is examined and investigated by the committee
Suitable solution or action is recommended after investigation
Feedback is given to the concerned woman student or staff member
The reply and action taken are recorded in the register

Tenure of the Cell

The tenure of the Gender Sensitization Cell shall be for a period of three years with effect from 08/12/2024. The powers, functions, and conduct of meetings of the cell shall be followed as per the rules and guidelines of the university and concerned authorities.
